A Brazilian EXPERIENCE & a DREAM COME TRUE!
A bit about Brazil...
O Candomble
Afro-Brazilian religion in which it's believed that we and everything around us is Energy! Since we are influenced by some forms of energy more than others, therefore we have a Head Energy called in Brazil our "Orixa". But you can also have a Mother Energy (that which has been passed on to you from your family) and also a 3rd Orixa called the guardian Angel.
To discover your head Orixa you must read or talk to people from the Candomble to find out about the different Orixa's personalities. Once you identified yourself with one or 3 of them you can start calling yourself son or daughter of that/ those Orixas.
The book Orixas - Anjos da natureza by Monica Buonfiglio is a fantastic book that will help you identify your Orixa but its in Portuguese only.
The Candomble baptism ceremonies in Brazil tend to be secret or closed to that Candomble house members only and not everyone is allowed to take part. This is mainly due to the fact that they believe not everyone is prepared to join the ceremonies.
Each Orixa has it's day, food, colour, tastes just like humans. On those specific days of the Orixas all over Brazil adepts celebrate giving offering, meals also called Caruru and in some places there are massive festivals where thousands of people go to the streets to celebrate with chanting, music, dance, food and wearing the colour of the Orixa!
