MACUMBA BAND
MacUmba is a professional group of musicians based in Scotland who mix the traditional sounds of Scottish bagpipes with the infectious rhythms of Brazilian Samba percussion.
MacUmba have played at many events and festivals all over the world and continue to develop their unique sound, entertaining audiences where ever they go. The normal instrumentation of the band is three pipers and five percussionists, although they may also be augmented by the addition of Scottish and/or Brazilian dancers.
Big events and festivals MacUmba has played at include...
- The World Cup in France where they supported the maracatu 'nation' Nacao Pernambuco at the Village du Brezil, Saint Denis, Paris - The 20th Fiesta de la Rumba in Havana, Cuba, where (although MacUmba are not a rumba group) they were privileged to appear with many famous rumba groups - The international Mundo Celta festival in Ortigueira, Galicia, where they appeared with many other bands from Celtic nations - Highland festivals in Luxembourg, Switzerland, France and Italy - Tours of Japan & USA. Radio and television appearances include...- Radio Progreso in Havana, Cuba - Univision in Miami, Florida - Music Live, BBC Glasgow and UK.
RHYTHM WAVE
BAND
Rhythm Wave is directed and arranged by professional educator and percussionist Ronnie Goodman. He formed the band 18 years ago at Perth College, Music Dept, where he is a full time member of the faculty of Arts & Humanities, University of the Highlands & Islands. The band features current students, alumni and staff of Perth College. The band plays street-style Batucada,Samba Reggae, Hip-hop, Maracatu, Cocoand other regional rhythms of Brazil often with a fusion of world beats for both stage and street performances, community and corporate events. Rhythm Wave has built an excellent reputation and among its highly acclaimed successes are scintillating performances at Glastonbury Festival, T in the Park, Aalborg Karneval Denmark, Perth Concert Hall (working with master percussionist Trilok Gurtu), Glasgow Royal Concert Hall (collaborating with Galician piping star Carlos Nunez) and being directed by Brazilian master percussionist Naná Vasconcelos for Perth 800 celebrations.
The Groove Band
The Groove Band started up in la Bodega, a Spanish tapas bar in Glasgow. After a few incarnations, the line-up is now a five piece with nylon guitar, electric guitar, bass, drums latin percussion and vocals. We play latin, funk and souls grooves and have an emphasis on cool arrangements and improvisation.

CLAN MACONDO
Clan Macondo is an organisation that promotes LatinoAmerican and AfroCaribbean Culture through Dance,Music,Languages in UK.
It started in 1994 and was formally established in 2009. Maritza Rodriguez is the Artistic Director.
Clan Macondo Rehearsal Group - A bunch of artists from all over the world had been touring and performing in UK and in many Festivals such us O2 Glasgow Mela. Our dance productions are full of Color, rhythm, dance, music and singing.
We have a passion for community projects and languages and so MamaLuna Creative Women Group and Creative Women Group at Kingsway Court had been our main community projects. Working hand to hand with other organisations in UK that support women and Human rights. Mamaluna Spanish for Kids and parents had been a successful project. we believe foreign languages should be learnt and started at a very early age using dance, songs and games. Story telling had been another successful project for Kids festivals in the city such as the Inspiration Festival and lately the Commonwealth Festival. We are growing and doing well thanks to our artists and volunteers. Mostly 'cause we learn out of experience. Thanks CLAN MACONDO a name after Magical Macondo' Town of Colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez Prize- Nobel Winner of 100 Years Of Solitude.
